The work “White Rain” is a bas-relief in white ceramic, assembled with a wooden frame. She was selected to participate in the 50th Premio Faenza; the work is currently owned by the museum and is exhibited in the contemporary artists section.
1998 50° Premio Faenza, presso MIC
For the 50th edition of the “Premio Faenza” the International Competition of Ceramics was reserved for artists aged 40 or over, to stimulate in the new generations the research, the renewal of techniques and materials, forms and ways of expression. Each competitor could submit a maximum of three works performed with any ceramic technique. 578 artists representing 57 nations participated in the competition, with a total of 1378 works. A first selection of the works, based on the images submitted, was made on 13, 14 and 15 January by the international jury. 92 works presented by 52 artists from 22 countries were admitted to the second grade selection (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Korea, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Holland, Peru, Poland, Spain, United States of America, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary). The second grade selection, with the award of prizes, took place on June 8 directly evaluating the works received, with the exception of those severely damaged during the expedition. The choice fell on works that testified competence in the use of ceramic materials and processes and that showed at the same time determination of aesthetic intentions and individual points of view. The award ceremony was held at the MIC on 19 September to coincide with the opening of the exhibition. The works were exhibited from 20 September to 31 January 1998.
