Premio Celommi Catalogue 2021
The success of the first International Biennial of Engraving and Sculpture invites to repeat the initiative that has had such great resonance in the territory thanks to the quality of the works produced and the international dimension of the artists. The chosen theme is inspired by verse 72 of the second Canto dell’Inferno of Dante’s Commedia “Amor mi mosse…”, love understood in the dual meaning of personal love and love of charity that is availability towards the other, absolute value and motor of the whole. It is a heartfelt homage to the Divine Poet, whose seven hundred years have passed since his death, because his work is the greatest and most prophetic project of moral reform in society. A travelling companion and life teacher for countless generations, Dante offers profound ethical references from a past that relives in the present and is reflected in the future. In his writings there is the whole man with his dramatic and complex experience, with his greatness and his misery. Art is entrusted with the task of visualizing and concretizing thoughts, ideas, emotions that take shape in a universal language, beyond physical boundaries and ideological barriers. The participation of students in the activities foreseen in the project becomes an instrument of integral formation of the person because it refines the ability of analysis, develops the critical sense, accustoms to the multiplicity of points of view, induces reflection, promotes the logic of confrontation and openness. The school is a stage that never fails and within its walls everyone lays the foundations of their future, learning to confront their abilities and others. Students acquire awareness in which they are called to translate them into actions. Positive experiences ignite the curiositas, that is, the desire to deepen, and develop the “talent for thinking”, which is identified with that Aristotelian “wonder” that is the engine of growth, because it seeks and finds opportunities for discussion and deepening indispensable to become more aware, attentive and critical citizens.
